Costume and Character Research

Because our group have decided to create a Hybrid genre we need make our characters as versatile as possible to fit the specific genre. For example, the fact we have chosen to include a drama, and romance we need to be able to create characters that can fit all genres. As we understand a girly blonde rich girl may not fit the idea of being in crime, therefore perhaps we need to create characters that have some sort of grunge-like look. I will be using a mix of description and pictures to help explain and illuminate possible ideas we may want to include in our coursework. To begin with, I will research stereotypical characters in various genres.

General characters in crime:

One example of stereotypical characters in crime are the characters in the film "Taken." the daughter Kim played by Maggie Grace. The stereotypical conventions which I found tend to be the within the victims   are the hairtype, which tends to be blonde- there is a great stereotype regarding this heairtype. Normally, the asociation is being more vunrable, even to the extent of being dumb. Blondes are considered less powerful even in most work fields the brunettes tend to be working high in management whislt the blonde girl works as a receptionist. 

Potential Target Audience

Due to the significance of the conflict found in our opening scene, it obviously restricts us in terms of target audience. It would be ideal for our opening to target everyone of all ages. However, it will most likely be watched by teenagers and young adults. Perhaps its because we discuss and explore issues many of the audience can relate to.

An example of a genre which has a selected target audience tend to be romantic comedy. In which the target audience tend to be young girls to young women. An example of a romantic comedy may be "The Backup Plan" featuring award winning actress Jennifer Lopez aka J-lo and Alex O'Loughlin. Released in April 2010, overall making 125 million dollars. Like our future opening, "The Backup Plan" highlights a problem many middle aged, successful, single women face. The need to have a baby. Throughout the movie we discover that eventually she does become lucky and conceive a child however she has to pick between the man (O'Loughlin) or her baby. 
We may want to consider just how much romance we wish to include in our Hybrid genre opening. As too much may become stereotypical and to some extent a parody. Also, there are different genres which may attract the  However there are various films created to target a niche audience. For example "The Godfather" is mainly aimed at men and perhaps older men. The dark gangster crime filled with action. appeals more to men, having a niche target audience can help, as well as limit your audience. If we chose to create an opening for a niche target audience then we may have to change our genre because by creating a hybrid genre it appeals to more people, by simply meshing two or more genres. It is also another way to introduce those whom may not like genres such as romance and crime.

On the one hand, our group aim to include romance, we also need to include drama- with particular focus on relationships as the conflict routes from the relationship. One film currently known by various people of all ages (over 12) and has consumed the minds of practically everyone - TWILIGHT. Similarly we aim to follow a similar concept of two people being separate because of boundaries and prejudice.
  The Twilight saga first came to our cinema screens in November 2008, and from then has broken numerous records. The first movie  Twilight grossed by $382,133,300. Based on a book it highlights the life choices Bella the protagonist has to make in order to stay in a relationship with Edward, who is a vampire. This film will help us gain an idea of what issues we can include to make our target audience varied. issues such as love, adultery. We realise that there is an extent into the issues we input in our opening that may affect various audiences, but also has to have a sense of realism. We aim to input   

In depth storyboard

We've come up with the idea to have two people living their lives but in real time with a split screen. The spilt screen will show them living their lives aswell as emobdoying the actual spilt that they have to go through. Because we want to show the spilt even more we will start with an establishing shot of a house and zoom into a sticker saying alla which will be over a door. 


This will then dissolve into a shot of the main character getting ready to go to Arabic lessons, therefore she will be washing her face (ablution) when shes washes her face we will hope to do an action match in which we get various shots beginning with a close up shot of her washing her face, except the camera will be from underneath the sink. then perhaps a profile shot from the side of her washing her face and then a high angle shot of her washing her face.


  The high angle shot will embody someone else watching her perhaps god. When she puts on her headscarf. this shot wil be a reflection of her putting on her headscarf in the mirror. 
 As she leaves the house and checks her phone, we will zoom into the phones screen to highlight who she will be meeting which will be her (secret) boyfriend at a certain time. Her mums saying be back home at this () time see you.. Love you etc.


AT THE SAME TIME (split screen)  the main male character and his friends are outside walking to their destination, we will also do an action match of his shoes from different angles.  (meeting point for both of them) they might talk about their friends relationship between him and her and telling him, we will then do various over the shoulder shots and shot reverse shots of they're converstaions. “ah look you could be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t have all these problems and all these secrets” and he could say something pretty touching and powerful, something that represents their relationship between each other. His friends leave him to walk alone and they both walk.. action match here and there and they meet.. (just one screen now, no split screen) perhaps a close up when he places his hands in hers as they continue walking. Action match again to show their body language and facial expressions, she talks about her stresses about their relationship.

Planning/pitches

Our genre is Drama/romance/action and we want it to be about an interracial relationship. So far I really like the idea of starting with a dis equilibrium start. So it’s all dramatic and loads of things are going on and if we were to make the rest of the time, we’d have flash backs etc to go back to the good old days! 

For our opening scene I'd like to have two main characters and the female lead actress to play a Romani gypsy, I was thinking of an actress like Angel Coulby because she is pretty but she doesn't fit into a a simple stereotype for example the blonde bimbo girl or the the dark haired tomb raider type of girl. Normal girls can relate to actresses like Angel because she's an average girl but there's more to her then her looks. 

Umm so this story is about this young couple the girl comes from a travellers background Romany traveller, so Romani travellers usually have dark skin, dark hair and their free spirited and her mums a fortune teller. The guys from Brixton he’s black and their relationships just really unusual.  

Gypsy culture.. they’re not meant to marry any one out of their ethnic group, and the fact that she’s 17 years old and she’s still not married is an issue in her family cos she’s almost 18 and she’s still not married and it’s like she’s almost past her sell by date. But she’s fallen for this boy from Brixton and she’s having to keep all these secrets. 

Opening scene 

One day she decides to just go, go out and do things she really wants to do. So she leaves which a few things and she ends up in the big bad busy world - London, loads of things are going on and it all overwhelms her but she likes what she sees.. A group of boys are around and start laughing at her because of the way she's dressed as she catches them laughing she bumps into someone and drops all her stuff and tries to pick it all up before the wind blows it all away.. then a boy runs up to her and tells his mates to shut up and helps her..  The end! 

If we had more time to plan the story and work on it then it would have been and really good story to work on however we realised that we’d need to look into gypsy culture and to research in-depth it would take a lot of time, we wouldn’t want to upset anyone or create controversy by building a story on rumours about things we’ve heard about gypsies, as they are a secretive community it would be hard to get the real facts about them. I personally think it’s a good story and it has potential.

• Screen writer - a creative person comes up with an idea which they sell on a production company or get a director and producer involved. screenwriting is a freelance job, you don't need any specific education to become a screenwriter however you need the ability to be a good storyteller. A lot of screen writers start their careers writing on speculations and a lot of the time they don't get paid. Professional screenwriters are usually represented by a talent agency.
• Director - is the person who is responsible for the artistic look of the film and ultimately the one who gets all the credit. 
• A person who sets up coodinates and supervises matters such as fundraising , hiring staff, arranging for distributors.
• in major features, this is usually a representative of CEO of the film studio (e.g Warner bros or Universal) or the title may be given to a major financial investor. In a smaller/inderpendent productions it can mean the creator or screenwriter.
• May put up a large amount of funding for the film and in return will want an input in how to make it turns out so they can protect their investment and make money.
• The companies who fund the film going out into cinemas- bigger companies can afford to make more pressings (copies) of each film and can therefore show the film on more screens. Usually a different company is used across different countries.

Sound Research

I'll be looking into typical sounds and music for our genre, I'll be looking into the diegetic and non diegetic sounds that go into making an opening scene. Usually sound synchronises with dialogue and enhances our vision of what the director wants us to see. 


Non diegetic sounds are created to enhance the viewers vision and to emphasise the content in the film. Sounds that are recorded and presented in a specific way to help tell a story through it's rhythm and sometimes it can also be a sound effect, for example music to set the mood of the scene, or a narrator talking over the film or dramatic sound effects  (I'll display you with some example at the end.   Diegetic sounds are the actual sounds on scene for example the characters talking that is a diegetic sound.

Typical sounds and music for the hybrid (romance, drama, action) we want to create is quite difficult because it depends on how we start if we want to to start dramatic in a non equilibrium way, with loads of things going on and starting with the plot rather then starting it with a happy nice day. It really depends on how we start and what happens in our scene. However it would be along the lines of... 

This is a good example because the music is upbeat and lively. You can play about with it and because it's a hybrid of action, romance and drama you expect it to be fast and pacey. The dialogue in the the music is slow which allows us to play about with the music.  Also the film 500 days of summer is a romance and drama which relates to our opening scene.

The Titanic, I don't know anyone who hasn't watched this film and when you think of Romance a lot of people think of Jack and Rose.. 

However this is slightly dated but it's still a key classic example. 

2. This is another example of Romance, this film was released this year (2011) however it still has a romantic feel to it.

A typical sound/music for a romance would be 'warm' as in it would have a good bass, something simple and catchy. Adequate low frequency to give it that warm sort of feeling, a romantic feel. Romantic music/sounds are quite pleasantly spacious and the music usually allows the listener to feel almost in peace or in touch with the music. It would be a lot more gentle compared to the action and drama music/sound. Romantic music/sounds tend to be acoustic to show that raw side because somehow playing a piano or guitar is so much more romantic then playing an electric guitar.

However a action film would be a little more edgy and up-tempo, the music/sound may be a little more darker as in the transition of the sound might be sharper because the music is faster. Action music/sounds could be quite progressive as in it would be quite unusual and different and maybe even have a contrast to the actual scene.

Music/sounds for drama can vary so we can play about with what kind of sounds and music go with a drama. Usually typical features for a drama are tonal because the music usually relates to what's going on and it really enhances the viewers feel and vision. Usually it's an instrumental and just one vocalist or no vocalist at all and the beats are consistent and heavy. 

Title Research

I'll be looking at font styles and textual movement for our genre. 

This is very fantasy like because of the colours used and the style of the writing , this text it slightly serif because at the end of the characters it has little points.

How is genre conveyed through the technical features in your film opening?

The film that I watched was called ‘Beastly’ and from the opening sequence the conventions of the film tell me that it’s based around an iconic character and is very rich and holds a high status in the film; not only does the opening sequence tell us this by the fact he’s working out but also other things such as body language, the camera shots and the editing. The film is a hybrid of romance, drama and fantasy although from the opening sequence it is made very clear that the film is a romance and may contain some drama from the establishing shots during the opening sequence, this part of the film is edited at a fast pace with loads of shots of the city and the lifestyle. 

At the beginning of the opening sequence it contains shots of the city life and how everything moves at a very fast pace, from this we can already see that the film is based around the lifestyle that is slightly hectic and fast. The film then goes on the show the main character working out in a hotel like room, this could either be a penthouse suit or his home telling us the character is wealthy or his family is. The connotations of a wealthy young adult living in a big city are that he may be slightly stuck up and consider himself to be better than other people his age. Also that his lifestyle is something that certain people cannot live and he sees himself as the person with the highest status which we see when the shot of himself with his t-shirt off and a shot reverse shot of the highest point in the city with just above it. This connotes that he considers himself a very important and powerful figure and as the film progresses we’ll learn more about his lifestyle. Another convention of a romance film shown in ‘Beastly’ is the fact there are loads of shots showing his body, the film has a mid-shot of him working out in his room, this tells the audience that he takes pride in his appearance and feels it’s important to take care of his body. This is also made more significant because the final shot of the main character is a close up of his body and then his face, this denotes very clearly that he keeps fit and maintains a healthy body; in addition this also shows a hint of vanity from the character as if he knows that he’s attractive. The film then shows an establishing shot of his college which is also an academy, already from the fact his school is an academy it tells the audience that he specializes in something and believes enough in it to study it at an academy, furthermore these adds to the fact we know he’s rich. The scene then goes to a shot of the main character standing in front of a large group of people, from a low angle shot it connotes that he has some type of power or status over the crowd of people watching him; this part of the opening sequence tells the audience that the film may contain some type of drama in school. Whilst he’s speaking the camera cuts from himself to the audience and there is a clear difference in facial expressions as he seems very calm, relaxed and slightly happy and some of the audience are the opposite as if he’s mocking them.

The sound in the opening sequence is another convention that shows the film is mainly drama and romance, whilst the film is showing shots of the city the lyrics to the song played are, ‘..Look at me now..’ this is also played whilst the shots of the main character working out is being showed. Having both these combinations show this could be a representation of his personality because we already understand that the character has an aspect of vanity inside of him by the fact he his looking at himself in the mirror as if he’s admiring his body. These also tells the audience that during the film the characters body is very significant in some way, although we don’t understand much about the character due to the fact this is when we are first introduced to him and don’t know much details about him.

During the opening sequence the editing is cut quickly and we only get to see quick shots of the main character working out in his room, from this we try to learn as much about the character as possible. The camera also cuts from the fast pace city life back to his room and from this we interpret the character lives a very fast lifestyle that’s lavish and extravagant.  The opening sequence gives the audience a big chance to clearly see where the film is based and the type of people that are going to be in the film, when the camera cuts into the school we understand the film is somehow linked to an academy where young adults go. Form this we can already get an idea of the type of romance that the film may involved which could range from teen love, to a love affair between staff as we don’t yet know what role he plays. All these came from the establishing shot of the school showing the audience where the film was based.

Other details that we learn about the film and the generic conventions are that the main character maintains a fit and healthy body showing the audience he’s somebody who cares about their appearance and maybe what people think. This also indicates he may have a small aspect of vanity in his personality which is an attribute that is linked to other negative things. Although the first few frames show him working out it is not yet clear what genre the film could be as it could be range of different things. Towards the end of the scene where the main character is working out there is a shot reverse shot which shows the main character looking out the window onto a very tall building which connotes he considers himself a very powerful and tall figure in society; this almost means he sees himself as the above everyone else in the city which also justifies the idea of him being vain. The next scene goes his academy which has certain connotations of class difference are generally means his family has money and a wealthy background, this would link to the fact in the first scene he was working out in a nice apartment building in the city. The scene then continues into the main character at an election at his academy, this also connotes that he may also have a very high status at his school and people look up to him for some reason. This scene then develops and we learn although he’s an iconic figure at his school he may have some controversy as he insults one of the students and makes a minority of the audience quiet and the other part laugh. From this we could interpret that he may have a love affair with someone that maybe he first thought he wouldn’t like or didn’t like him. From the fact he’s an iconic figure we can guess that the film is going to have some sort of love problem involving a contrast in characters and statuses although we don’t fully know yet.

Altogether the generic conventions in the opening sequence suggest the film could have certain romantic aspects although doesn’t clearly state how much or what else the film is going to include. From the title ‘Beastly’ we can interpret that something not liked by the public or not eye friendly is going to have a significant impact of the film. 

King Kong

How is genre conveyed through the technical features of your film opening?

Genre is conveyed through many aspects in ‘King Kong’, for example camera, editing, mise en scene and sound. The genre of this film is romance, drama and action this relates to our opening scene because we want to do a hybrid of romance, drama and action, exactly like King Kong so it's a great film to look at! The narrative for this film is about an ambitious movie producer who hires a crew ship to travel to a mysterious island where they encounter a giant ape who falls in love with the leading lady actress. This is similar to what we want to do, go down the forbidden love sort of route. Where you can question whether loving a certain person does more good than bad or if it's seen right or wrong. So it's defiantly an interesting film. 

We denote the first shot (mid shot) of a cute little monkey which helps us predict that the film has something to do with a monkey or some sort of ape. Then we see different shots of different apes which can connote that seeing different apes mean that later on we will see an ape that is totally different, which as we know is King Kong. We then see an establishing shot of a zoo but all the animals have limited space and aren't really free. This can also connote that the ape later on will not be free and most probably be caged, we then see a mid shot of a monkey behind bars which can have significant meaning. We then see different establishing shots of America most probably during the 1930's which is most known for it's Great Depression era, I think it's set during that period because people are living in poverty, they don't look happy, they look hungry and unemployed. Through the establishing shot we know that the film is set in New York city.  




 

Atonement

How is genre conveyed through the technical features of your film opening?

Genre is conveyed through many aspects in ‘Atonement’, for example camera, editing, mise en scene and sound. The genre of this film is romance, drama and mystery this relates to our opening scene because we want to do a hybrid of romance, drama and action. The narrative for this film is about how a young girl changes the course of many different lives after accusing her older sisters lover of a crime he didn't commit. 

The Holiday

How is genre conveyed through the technical features of your film opening?

Genre is conveyed through many aspects in ‘The holiday’, for example camera, editing, mise en scene and sound. The genre of this film is comedy and romance, this relates to our opening scene because we want to do a hybrid of romance, drama and action. The narrative for this film is about two women who have 'guy-problems' and never seem to fall for the right guy so they decide to swap homes in each others countries where they meet their Mr right and fall in love. 


The film opens with a heterosexual couple kissing romanticly by a river/lake in a green surrounding. Throughout this there is both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. Firstly the diegetic sounds of the birds singing and on top of that a non diegetic sound of music to relate to the mood of the couple, to enhance the romantic feel and to let us know that this film is a romance and not a horror. 

The camera then zooms out of the screen making the audience realise that they were watching a film within a film. We see long shot of the room where a man is editing music for a romantic film so we can assume he is a musician or he works in the the film industry creating music. We can also assume he is one of the main characters as he is the first person to be in the actual shot. From zooming out and panning to him we go to a mid shot where I can denote seeing things behind him and there are loads of books and musical instruments and a frame with a man playing the guitar this can connote what kind of character he is.


From the mid shot we can hear a monologue by a female who starts of with a quote by Shakespeare about love, this relates to the whole film as it is a romance. The non diegetic sound of the the monologue which is quite like a narrator talking over the opening. This is really important because different aspects of love relate to different characters in different ways for example as the narrator says "for others love is simply lost" and the shot cuts to an old man looking at a picture of a woman by his bedside which connotes that they were together but she pasted away, therefore there are significant connections with the monologue and the cuts between the characters. We denote a shot of the old man in his bedroom and again the camera allows us to see his facial expression but before we see the shot of his face the camera zooms up to the picture of a woman in the frame and then pans up to his face. I think the editor didn't want to do two different shots because then the audience may feel disconnected in a way because keeping it as one clear shot allows us to make a connection between the framed picture of the woman and the old man. It allows the audience to think that they were a couple.

At this point the shots cut from different settings which relate to the monologue, so it started with the musical which the long shot and the panning to show who he is and what he does. Then we see a girl and he kisses the girl on the hand which conveys he is a romantic guy. We then see a shot reverse shot of the the couple to show their facial expressions, I'm assuming they're a couple. Then the shot fades from the right to a car with a couple in it, a mid shot which allows us to see how they behave and how they interact with each other and their relationship doesn't look as bubbly and fun as the first couple. Here again we see a shot reverse shot of the couple, this allows us to see their facial expressions and they look ever so slightly out of love. Straight after that shot, it's an establishing shot; we see the car from behind drive away in a busy place, looks like America.


After the old man in the bedroom, the next shot is of a man in a pub with is friends and he sees a woman, this is in the same shot. Which is an extreme long shot because it allowed the audience the follow the character as he walked through the pub and saw the woman. I feel the editor choose to not cut this again to show connections with both the audience and the characters and the man and woman. As the man and woman catch each others eyes through a shot reverse shot. It connotes that these two people are going to talk to each other and get to know one another however it wont last because of what the narrator said which is "love can be found even just for the night".


We finally get to meet the narrator who is also a main character. We denote  finding her sitting in her office rapping a present for someone and this connotes that she is going to give the present to someone she loves because the rapping paper is red, the colour red can mean love and because the film is a romance we can assume is is for someone she loves however the person she loves doesn't love them back as she talks about unrequited love. After she opens the door, it's an extreme long shot the place she is in, probably her work place as she was in her office. I can connote that it looks like its a Christmas work party as their are decorations around the room and everyone is in fancy wear.  She points out the man she loves through a shot reverse shot. 

Attack the block

How is genre conveyed through the technical features of your film opening?

Genre is conveyed through many aspects in ‘Attack the block’, for example camera, editing, mise en scene and sound. The genre of this film is an urban hybrid of sci-fi, drama, comedy and action. It starts of with an establishing shot panning down from the stars and sky. Since it starts with the sky it shows that this is a sci-fi and the background music enhances that feeling. As it pans down it feels like someone from above is watching down on the earth or humans. The editor has chosen to not cut bits out from the first few seconds because he or she wants the viewer to feel like someone is watching from above. Throughout this there is a diegetic sound of a heartbeat, which enhances the feel of something bad occurring, it’s anticipating for the audience.

The camera pans down to urban London with the tube station being in the middle of the shot. We see fireworks going off and people with sparklers therefore this connotes it’s bonfire day. With all the fireworks going off you expect something to happen but the characters don’t see it or hear it because their hearing is masked by the noise of the fireworks.

We see a mid shot of a vulnerable woman, we think she’s vulnerable because of her dress sense: this is mise en scene. We can see she is associated with the middle class because of her shoes. She is wearing converses, which most middle class people wear rather then working class people.

As she walks to her destination, it is shown to us through action match. We see parts of her through different angled shots. Mainly close ups of her face, shoes, body etc., I think it has been edited in this style to show that there is something watching her in detail and the closer the shot gets it feels like something is getting closer.

We then see a close up of the graffiti and see flashing lights, when those lights flash we see a shadow and then it disappears. Lights and the camera create this effect. The connotation of this shot is significant because the graffiti shows she has walked straight into danger because the graffiti it’s self looks messy and rough. The way it’s been edited shows the audience that she has walked into danger and now something is going to happen.

In the next shot I can denote a shot reverse shot of a gang of black boys and this woman getting closer and closer which makes the woman look intimidated. As she tries to walk around the group there’s an action match of the gang surrounding her. We see low angle shots of the gang leader intimidating her, this connotes that he has more power than her. The high angle shot creates an image of vulnerability once again. Throughout this bit we see a lot of low angle shots of the gang showing that they have so much more power then this middle class woman.

In this situation I think they have chosen a black gang because in the media black youth are seen in a negative way. Obviously this woman has seen this gang and she wants walk on the other side of the pavement because she is scared.

Throughout this film-opening scene there are diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, which enhance our impressions on this film as a whole. It allows the audience to feel ‘urban culture’ and to acknowledge that something bad is going to happen by the pace of the background music.

1st Stage of Logo Design

This is the first stage of our logo design which is going to be developed later this week, we decided to use an image of a Phoenix as we feel it best represents us and tells people who we are straight away.

The decision to name ourselves Phoenix Entertainment comes from the fact a phoenix represents the rebirth and creation of something new, as we're a new group we felt this is how we can best be described. 
The next stage of the logo should be designed by wednesday and the final copy is deadlined to be ready by Friday before which careful planning and meetings will be done allowing everyone in the group to input their ideas into the logo. 

Production Companies

Recently we've been researching production companies to get an idea of which companies would we approach in an ideal situation. This would also give us benefits such as being able to look at the films they produce and learn some of the techniques they use to make their films so effective. As we are doing a mixture of Action, Romance and Drama we each researched different production companies with those genres to make the tasks of group easier. 

Action Production Companies

Warner Bros Pictures is a US production company who have produced many great films including; Dark Knight, Inception, Clash of the Titans and The Book of Eli all of which are great action packed films. The majority of their action films are highly rated and they have more action films planned to be released in 2012. 

Twentieth Century Fox Films is another production company who have a good history of action packed films; Die Hard,  X-Men First Class and Avatar. Currently they're working on a range of different films sue to be released in the next few years. 

Lucasfilm is another US production company that have a range of films, they created the series of; Star Wars and Indiana Jones. These were two very famous series showing this production company to have a good history of films.

These types of films were created and seemed most popular on the IMDB and received high ratings from the website.


One of the most popular and known dramas of all time is The Godfather series produced by Paramount Pictures, since creating The Godfather series they have produced other great dramas such as; The Fighter, Shutter Island and Freedom Writers.


Warner Bros Pictures is another production company that have a great history of drama films they've produced, having worked on the Harry Potter series it's clear they have a team of highly skilled workers that produce good films.

Having researched most the romantic films on the IMDB we've learnt that Warner Bros Pictures has created some of the most popular romance films such as; Casablanca, Sex and the City 2 and Slumdog Millionaire.


Paramout Pictures is also another production company that have a wide variety of genres in their history including some very good romance films such as; What Women Want, No Strings Attached and The Last Kiss. These films are mostly a hybrid and have a mixture of some other genres in them generally comedy.


Fox 2000 Pictures also have a range of different films although their romance films are similar to what we want to include in our productions, specifically the films that appeal to us are; Devil Wears Prada, Bride Wars and In Her Shoes.

Conclusion
Having researched production companies in the industry its clear that some companies are generally produce a certain genre of film mostly or some have a wide range of genres that they've produced. Although most production companies are very expensive and have better technology and staff watching some of the films they produce will help us create a better opening sequence, not only does it although us to develop our techniques but we can also learn how to include more generic conventions in our film.


In an 'ideal' situation based upon our research it seems that we would use Warner Bros Pictures dues to the fact they have such a wide variety of films with different genres that have been successful and effective, by watching some of these films and analysing them we'll be able to develop our skills and techniques. 


Another option based upon our research is Paramount Pictures who have a great history of films, they also have a wide range of different genres showing they can adapt of any genre of film.
